Tex. Loc. Gov’t Code tit. 8, subtitle A, ch. 253, § 253.011 (2009).

Policy Summary

This law authorizes municipalities to convey real property to nonprofits for public use without going through the notice and bidding requirements otherwise applicable. The nonprofit must agree to use the property for a public purpose, and ownership of the property reverts to the city at such time as that public purpose ceases. This may benefit nonprofits who are seeking to create urban farms and gardens in these areas in a more accessible way.
